Vocalist Nate Pruitt and guitarist Rick Vandivier are Primary Colors, a jazz and blues duo often featuring other great musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area. Their music, although primarily jazz and blues, also includes elements of swing, soul, pop, spiritual, and Latin styles ... even a trademark deep Southern yodel. Nate and Rick first formed their musical association in 1980. They originally met at the Club Garden City, former jazz hub of San Jose, California. The next decade saw many gigs, two albums and a European tour as part of the now defunct sextet, the fusion oriented, A Little Night Music. As the 90's rolled around, Rick and Nate continued to perform together as a duo and with larger groups. The nucleus of Primary Colors was formed in 1993. After numerous club gigs and recordings the personnel and style of the band coalesced around jazz and blues. But hear the music for yourself—enjoy the MP3s online and come out to a live performance!
